A viral video circulating on social media shows doctors continuing surgery despite intense earthquake tremors.
An 8.8 magnitude earthquake recently shook part of Russia and doctors from Kamchatka hospital are receiving praise as they continued performing their duty despite the powerful quake.
According to some reports, it was the sixth largest earthquake in recorded history.
According to Russia Today, the doctors stayed with the patient throughout and never stopped the surgery which appears to be a success as the Health Ministry has revealed that the patient is doing well.
The extraordinary act of dedication by the medical team has won hearts across social media.
One user wrote, “Not even so much as a word of stress. Impressive.” Another penned, “Brave dear people.”
A third netizen expressed, “Because when he received the profession of medicine, he swore to protect the patient, thanks for your humanity.” A fourth one wrote, “In a world full of wrongdoers,I see humans with humanity co-exist.”
This comes as tsunami warnings were issued across the Pacific, including Hawaii, Alaska and the U.S. West Coast.
The Russian statesman Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov stated in a video posted on the Telegram messaging app: “Today’s earthquake was serious and the strongest in decades of tremors.”
The USGS reported that the earthquake was shallow at a depth of 19.3 km and was centred 119km east-southeast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, a city of 165,000.
The quake’s epicenter was roughly the same as the major 9.0 temblor in 1952 that caused massive destruction and Pacific-wide tsunami.
